Describe physics

  It's pretty challenging to pinpoint exactly what physics is, to be honest. One is that physics is constantly evolving as science advances and new discoveries are made. New theories offer more than simply fresh solutions. They also raise new issues that may not have even made sense when considered from the perspective of the earlier physics theory. It also compels attempts to define physics into generalizations about what physics has been rather than what it might be in the future, which keeps physics exciting and engaging.

Nevertheless, definitions are helpful. So, if that's the definition you want, you'll get it. Physicists are mostly attempting to perform the following:

What are the most basic measurable quantities in the universe? (e.g., velocity, electric field, kinetic energy). Physics has traditionally always placed a strong emphasis on the search for the most basic explanation of the universe, as shown in the comic graphic below. What does the term "fundamental" mean?

Look for connections between those basic measured quantities (such as Newton's Laws, energy conservation, and special relativity). Words, equations, graphs, charts, diagrams, models, and any other tools that allow us to represent a relationship in a way that we as humans can better comprehend and use are used to express these patterns and correlations. Math makes things easier, right?

Okay, so reducing physics to just two concepts is undoubtedly a massive simplification that ignores some of the more intricate details of what physicists do and how they do it. But physics' main goal is to try to explain a complex reality with a few clear, concise laws. So perhaps it's not such a horrible notion after all to attempt and define the complex activity that physicists engage in in a straightforward and understandable way.
