The primary distinction between the two terminology is between bits and bytes. Megabits per second are denoted by the first abbreviation, Mbps, with a lowercase "b," while megabytes per second are denoted by the second, MBps, with a capital "B."
The unit of measurement for upload and download speed is megabits per second (Mbps). For instance, a 10 Mbps internet service would require over three hours to download your favorite HD movie, which could be 12 GB in size. On the other hand, if you had a 500 Mbps internet package, your movie would be ready in around three minutes.
Megabytes per second (MBps) is a unit of measurement for how quickly a file is downloaded or uploaded. For live TV streaming, for instance, which doesn't need downloading and saving a file, AT&T TV advises 25 Mbps speeds. The velocity of download, however, may be 100 MBps when downloading a video game.
Although they both refer to measurements, the names have different meanings. When discussing internet upload and download rates, or the rate at which data is uploaded or downloaded based on your connection speed, megabits per second is frequently used. The term "bandwidth" may also be used to describe it.
