How cold must it be before it starts to snow?

When the air temperature is below 2 °C, precipitation turns into snow. The idea that snow requires temperatures below zero is untrue. In reality, the heaviest snowfalls in this country typically happen when the air temperature is between 0 and 2 °C. When the temperature goes above freezing, the snow does start to melt, but as it does, the air around the snowflake gets colder.

There are three levels of snowfall: light, moderate, and heavy. Blizzards and drifts can be produced by a snowstorm when it is coupled with strong winds.

The snowflake will melt and turn into sleet if the temperature is higher than 2 °C, and it will turn into rain if the temperature is even higher.
