How does snow get made

Tiny ice crystals in clouds bond with one another to make snowflakes. Crystals will eventually get so densely packed that they are weighty enough to tumble to the earth. Snowflakes will melt at their edges and join together to form large flakes when they fall through damp air that is slightly warmer than 0 °C. Cold, dry air causes snowflakes to fall, resulting in powdery snow that does not stick together. When the temperature is low and there is moisture in the air in the form of microscopic ice crystals, snow is generated.
